01.01.09 | Adriano Santos Brazilian Jazz Quintet
I am happy to let you know that I'll be performing at Zinc Bar on August 19th and 20th accompanied by Helio Alves (piano), David Binney (alto sax), Dendê (percussion) and David Ambrosio (ac.bass). We will be playing various compositions from the best Brazilian composers such as Milton Nascimento, Jobim, Joao Donato, Hermeto Pascoal, Airton Moreira, Toninho Horta, J.T Meirelles, Baden Powell and others.
Right after that I will be going to a studio to record my first project with the guys.
I am hoping to have the CD ready for the Fall 2008.

11.16.08 | Hendrik Meurkens and New York Samba Jazz Quartet
After the very successful last two CDs, in June we are going back to the studio to record the third CD with the Hendrik Meurkens and New York Samba Jazz Quintet. This time we have the great Misha Tsiganov on piano, Rodrigo Ursaia on tenor and flute, Gustavo Amarante on bass, my self on drums and a special guest Rodrigo Ursaia.
In November the same band will be going to Germany and Switzerland for a two week tour, so stay tune for more info.

07.29.08 | Jazz Samba Concert at the 92nd St. Y
From the swaying rhythms of bossa nova and samba to the landmark recordings of Stan Getz and Astrud Gilberto, Brazilian jazz has become an organic part of American popular song. Some of the finest interpreters of this music perform classics by Jobim and Bonfa and standards by Gershwin and Porter infused with a Brazilian flair.

07.27.08 | Europe here we go!
This Summer 2008 promise to be a very busy one, and nothing better than start the season traveling over seas playing great music and meet new people.
July 6th I’ll be traveling to Quebec, Canada and July 19th to Europe with Vinicius Cantuaria an amazing Brazilian songwriter and guitar player. I am lucky to have great musician playing with me in this band such as, Takuia Nakamura, Dendê and Nanny Assis (perc) and Vini himself. We will visit England, Ireland and Poland.

07.18.08 | New CD - Hendrik Meurkens "Sambatropolis" #1 in the Charts
The new Hendrik Meurkens CD "Sambatropolis" recorded last March 2007, is set for release in January. The CD is already getting great reviews and is #1 in the radio Jazz Week Chart and #1 at World Music Charts.
Personel; Helio Alves (piano), Gustavo Amarante (bass), Jed Levy (tenor+flute), Rodrigo Ursaia (tenor+flute) , Hendrik Meurkens (harmonica+vibes), Adriano Santos (drums), Duduka da Fonseca (drums)and Mauricio Zotarelli (drums).
The CD will be released by Zoho records and you can find it in stores January 8th. The release party will be on January 30th at the Kitano jazz club in NYC.

06.17.08 | Time to teach at the Collective!
June 17th I’ll be back again at the Drummers Collective to teach the Brazilian course for the two year certificate program students and the EIP program. I’ll be teaching Brazilian percussion and drum set for 19 students from all over the world.

06.07.08 | Hahahaes at SOB'S!
In June 7th 2008, the Hahahaes Band will be performing at the SOBS Club in NYC, show starting at 8:45pm on Saturday.
Dendê is the bandleader of this great band and also inventor of the "Crazy Drum Set". I use two surdos in each foot, a bacurinha on my left side, a 12”inch killing Odery snare drum, bells, woodblocks and the great Istanbul Agop cymbals.
Come to SOB’S to dance and groove with us.

Vana’s Afro Brazil Project will perform at 9pm, featuring Vana(piano), Mo’ Pleasure (bass), Gino Sitson (vocals) & Adriano Santos (drums). The event is sponsored by Ports1961, with additional sponsorship by Ivanka Trump.

We will be performing in Ukraine and Russia this coming March (18th-26th).
The cities are; Kiev, Odessa, Kharkov and Moscow.

05.01.07 | Dave Pietro's Banda Brazil American Tour 2007
Starting April 9th I will be out of town touring for the second time with Dave Pietro and Banda Brazil. We are going to hit a lot of universities and jazz clubs, playing and doing some work shops at some schools. The band: Helio Alves (piano), Leonardo Cioglia (bass), Rogerio Boccato (perc), Dave (alto sax) and I. It will be fun to be on the road again with the cats, playing great original music and meeting new musicians. We will be back in New York on April 20th, and the band will be performing at Zinc Bar on the 24th and 25th, at Mansfield University Jazz Festival on the 27th. Come check it out, the group will be tight!
